The beautiful leaves of the Kale plant have an earthy taste.  There are several varieties of kale; these include curly kale, ornamental kale, and dinosaur (or Lacinato or Tuscan) kale, all of which differ in taste, texture, and appearance.These are pretty straight forward, you can either dehydrate them or cook them in the oven if your pressed for time. I dehydrated these.

Ingredients:

1kg of Kale washed (when cut and destalked its 500g)

Cheezy Sauce

2 Cups Raw Cashews
3/4 Cup Water
2 Lemons
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/2 Tsp Chilli
Nutritional Yeast

Preheat your oven to 180 Degrees

Soak your cashews for at least 1 hour, add all your cheezy sauce ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend! Cut stalks off your Kale and tear Kale apart to chip size.

Place your Kale and sauce into a bowl and massage the sauce into your kale.

Separate your kale so they don’t overlap and are not stuck together, this way they can dry well and get crispy. Place on your dehydrator trays or oven tray.

Dehydrate for 24-28 hours or cook in a preheated oven for 15- 20 minutes or until crispy.

Allow to cool and then place in a well sealed tupperware to stay fresh (if they last that long(;

Kale chips are a great alternative to your regular MSG deep fried crisps. Kids love them too, which is great, make them for kids parties, lunch boxes or travel snacks.
